UCLA alumni and friends joined Chancellor Gene Block and Vice Provost for International Studies and Global Engagement Cindy Fan, for a UCLA Global Forum in Hong Kong. Tom Kong ’92, M.S. ’92, Ph.D. ’05, spoke on his innovative business model, "Dreaminator," which combines technology collaboration, incubation, investment, and marketing development. A networking reception followed the program.

About Tom Kong

Tom Kong was born in mainland China, raised in Hong Kong, and attended UCLA. While at UCLA, Tom received a B.S. in mechanical engineering in 1992, an M.S. in engineering & applied science in 1992, and a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering in 2005. During his time at UCLA, Tom learned to turn the abstract into the multi-functional.

With fellow Bruin alumni, Ian Kwan and Vincent Lin, Tom co-founded PSP Security in 2008 which provides embedded facial recognition solutions. The following year, Tom and Kwan partnered again to co-found Master Dynamic, the birthplace of "Dreaminator," Tom's innovative business model which combines technology collaboration, incubation, investment, and marketing development.

In addition to co-founding PSP Security and Master Dynamic, Tom has held positions at the former Rockwell International Science Center in Thousand Oaks, California, GE Fanuc Automation Division in Charlottesville, Virginia, and at the Chinese University of Hong Kong.
