From the notorious serial killer Yoo Young-chul, who murdered 20 people over a span of approximately 10 months from September 2003 to July 2004, to the infamous Hwaseong serial murders committed by Lee Choon-jae, and more recently, the case of 'Doctor's Room' Cho Joo-bin. Investigating these cases firsthand, Mr. Ryu YeongU will delve into the developmental process of Korean society and the changing patterns of criminals who have startled Korean society.
Firstly, why did Lee Choon-jae, the perpetrator of the Hwaseong serial murders, turn into a demon? And how did Ryu Young-chul, who was once just a petty criminal, become a serial killer targeting affluent victims and sex workers? Why did he blame God? And why did 'Doctor's Room' Cho Joo-bin apologize to a prominent Korean anchor and politician? Through in-depth investigation into the truths behind these cases, we aim to explore what negative aspects of contemporary Korean society the villains are reflecting. In his talk, Mr. Ryu will illuminate how various incidents in Korean society are connected and how both the changing Korean society and villains have evolved over time.
