The McCallum Prize recognizes the accomplishments of UCLA undergraduates in any humanities field studying Japan.
The McCallum Prize recognizes the accomplishments of UCLA undergraduates in any humanities field studying Japan. Every other year, nominations for the award will be gathered by the McCallum Prize Committee who will make the selection based on outstanding achievement in a course on Japanese history, politics, anthropology, geography, sociology, economics, public policy, or related field. The prize amount is $1000.
The McCallum Prize is named after Professor Donald McCallum, one of the founding faculty members of the Terasaki Center for Japanese Studies and a leading expert on Japanese art.
Eligibility
All prize winners should be current UCLA undergraduates who have enrolled in a class on Japan at UCLA.
The deadline for nominations is April 15th.
Award
The prize winner will be announced in conjunction with the Irene Hirano Inouye Award ceremony every other spring beginning in 2022 and will receive a cash award of $1000.
